geometrical

geometrical
geometric, geometrical
As with the preceding words, the longer form is about a century older than the shorter one (1552 and 1630 respectively). In this case, the shorter form is dominant in fixed collocations in BrE (geometric mean, geometric progression, geometric tracery, etc.), but in general contexts the choice seems to depend on the rhythm and balance of the sentence. In AmE geometric seems to be more usual both in fixed collocations and in general contexts.
